Sweet Success for Barnard Castle Manor House Volunteers

A specially made tuck shop trolley is providing a service and helping to raise money at The Manor House, Barnard Castle.

The service was started two years ago by volunteer Tina Hall and her husband Don, then a resident at The Manor House.

When Don passed away earlier this year Tina continued the service with volunteer colleague Maureen Brownless.

Donna Richards, The Manor House activities co-ordinator said:  “The original tuck shop trolley was really popular with residents, relatives and staff and money raised from sales went into a fund to provide special events for residents.

“Tina and Maureen wanted to continue the service so we decided to design a new really decorative trolley which could hold more stock. Our talented handyman Jeff Folwell made it and I designed the scrolls and sweetie decorations.

“Our 12 volunteers train with our staff on relevant topics and we are lucky to have such great people as part of The Manor House community to help out with social and craft activities.”

The Manor House is a residential care and nursing home and part of Hadrian Healthcare Group.
