Smurf The Shetland Pony At The Manor House, Gosforth

A special visit by a Shetland pony delighted both residents and staff at The Manor House in Gosforth, Newcastle recently.

Smurf, who had travelled from his home in Northumberland, was quite happy to come into the building and ride to the first floor in the lift.

Patricia Middleton, lifestyle coordinator at The Manor House owns two horses herself so was completely at home with the little visitor. She said: “Smurf is quite a bit smaller than my horses, but he couldn’t have made a bigger impact.
“Our residents thought he was wonderful. For some of them he brought back childhood memories of looking after and feeding working horses.

“Smurf was very well behaved. He’ll be welcome back any time!”

The Manor House provides residential and dementia care for elderly people.
