May Celebrates 100th Birthday At The Manor House

Mrs May Small celebrated her 100th birthday at The Manor House, Gosforth with a special lunch party for family and friends on 15 May.

May was born in Jesmond, one of nine children, and went to Chillingham Road School. Her late husband John asked her to a ball as their first date, and May says it was love at first sight.

She had a passion for shoes and a career in retail, becoming manageress of Barratts Shoes in Newcastle.

Pam Gould, manager of The Manor House said: “We’re delighted to celebrate this very special birthday with May and her family and friends. May is a lovely lady and we’re pleased and proud to be part of her life.”

The Manor House provides residential and dementia care and is part of Hadrian Healthcare Group.
