Double Celebration Day At The Manor House

The Manor House care home in Barnard Castle celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday and national Care Home Open Day together in style with guest of honour the Mayor of Barnard Castle Councillor John Blissett.

The event had a street party theme with bunting and homemade afternoon tea served on vintage china. Music was provided by violin and guitar duo Charlotte Kennedy and Harry Murrell. Activities included creative sessions with flower arranger Eunice Tate and artist Michael Horner and a fun pompom Oomph! exercise class led by care assistant Katie Richards.

Kim Whelan, manager of The Manor House said: “We all thoroughly enjoyed the day. The activities are a taste of what’s on offer at The Manor House every day, organised by our lifestyle coordinator, to help our residents maintain their interests and develop new ones. Family and friends often join in too.

“We love taking part in Care Home Open Day as it’s massively important to show the community what we do. We hold other special events throughout the year which are also open to visitors. We have got a beautiful environment and aim to provide the best care and we are proud of that.”
