Oulton Manor Easter Farmyard Eggstravaganza

This year’s Easter activities at Oulton Manor have had a distinct farmyard feel.

In March a batch of eight fertile eggs arrived from Eggs to Chicks Hatching Adventure based at South Stainley near Harrogate, along with an incubator and everything they needed to make their start in life.

“Our residents were present for the hatching, have named them and watched them grow,” said Kim Eames, lifestyle coordinator at Oulton Manor.

Then for the Easter Fayre held at the beginning of April Oulton Manor’s landscaped grounds were decked out with straw bales and delicious homemade refreshments were available outside from a marquee as well as in the lounge for residents, families and friends from the local community.

Kim commented: “The Fayre was a lovely afternoon for all of us, our younger visitors had a great time racing round the grounds on the Easter egg hunt then everyone enjoyed joining in with the singers.

“And having the chicks for the last six weeks has been a fascinating experience. They have been a great source of interest and have been handled on a daily basis. They’re now returning to the farm at South Stainley where they will have a free range outdoor life, and we hope to hatch their offspring next year.”
