Canal Cruises Delight Residents

Residents from The Manor House Knaresborough have been enjoying life aboard barge The Endeavour on some of the most scenic sections of the Leeds-Liverpool canal.

Setting off from Skipton, the barge cruised through locks and picturesque villages north west to Gargrave or south to Kildwick. Then after delicious packed lunches of pork pies, sandwiches and cakes made by The Manor House’s cook, it was time to return home.

“We had good weather on each of the four trips, everyone had a great time and residents are keen to go again,” said Joanne Meredith, lifestyle coordinator at The Manor House. “Travelling by barge gives a completely different view of the countryside and it’s very relaxing.”

The trips were arranged with Skipton & Craven Action for Disability who provide different types of accessible transport to help people get out and about.
