The Manor House Gosforth Hosts The Great British Fair

The Manor House Gosforth held their annual summer fete on Saturday 5 August with the theme of The Great British Fair.

The fair attracted lots of support from the local community and visitors of all ages. It was opened by Barbara Field, a resident at The Manor House.

Summer Fete at The Manor House Gosforth

On Saturday 5 August, 1.30-4pm, The Manor House Gosforth is holding its annual summer fete with games, facepainting, a brass band and singer Zoe, balloon races and a mini animal farm to mention just some of the attractions.

Lifestyle coordinator Richard Dobinson said: “The fete will have something for everyone, whatever their age. Brunton Park Scout Group are helping us out on the stalls and families, friends and members of the community are all invited to join in the fun.”

Canal Cruises Delight Residents

Residents from The Manor House Knaresborough have been enjoying life aboard barge The Endeavour on some of the most scenic sections of the Leeds-Liverpool canal.

Setting off from Skipton, the barge cruised through locks and picturesque villages north west to Gargrave or south to Kildwick. Then after delicious packed lunches of pork pies, sandwiches and cakes made by The Manor House’s cook, it was time to return home.

Learning Award Successes for Manor House Residents

Two residents at The Manor House Whickham have scooped first and second places in the Learning for Life category of Gateshead Council’s learningSkills Awards.

Betty Nicholson won the Learning for Life Award and Mary Potts was runner-up. They attend a popular watercolour class held at The Manor House every Thursday led by Gateshead Council tutor Bernard Quinn. The awards were presented at a ceremony at The Dryden Centre on 6 July by Councillor Jill Green.

Forties Day “a huge success” at Wetherby Manor

Wetherby Manor held a 1940’s themed day involving residents, families, friends and staff on 25 June. People dressed up to recreate times gone by and a 1940’s inspired hamper - containing items such as Camp coffee, blancmange, condensed milk and Spam - was the star raffle prize.

Sing-along entertainment in the afternoon was so popular more seating was brought into the main lounge.
