Hadrian Healthcare Completes Major Refurbishment of Gosforth Care Home

A major refurbishment and redesign of The Manor House care home in Gosforth, Newcastle has been completed by luxury care developer and provider Hadrian Healthcare Group.

The aim of the scheme was to create more space for social activities, larger dining areas and a lighter look throughout.

As a result there is now a café-bar and an extended beauty and hairdressing suite. The restaurant and dining bistros, lounges and corridor spaces have all been redesigned.

Residents and their families were kept up to date during the refurbishment and are delighted with the results.

Suzanne Mason, home manager said: “The redesign has not only updated the interior of the home, it has increased the lifestyle choices for our residents and so improved their quality of life.

“The café-bar next to the reception area has created a real destination and has been a great success. It is very well used by residents and visiting families and friends.

“We are able to serve morning coffee, lunches and afternoon teas for visitors and residents there, and host occasional cocktail afternoons.

“In the restaurant there are monthly international themed nights and late dining is available for residents and their relatives during the week.

“The café-bar is also the base for our front of house manager, which is a new role to coordinate reception for visitors.”

The interior design and fitout was carried out by Bernard Interiors, who designed the original interior when the home opened in 2010. The practice has worked with Hadrian Healthcare for over 10 years and helped to build the Manor House brand from the outset.

Jen Bernard, founder and managing director of Bernard Interiors commented: “Many aspects of the original design had stood the test of time, and the initial investment in high quality furniture and materials meant that for some areas we could reupholster rather than replace.

“Some partition walls were removed to create open flexible areas, and we have used lighter finishes and carpeted throughout. Redesigning the corridor layouts has also allowed us to create new areas of interest and a new staff work station.”

Within the Chester’s accommodation, specifically designed for people living with dementia, the colour palette features soft, calm colours. The corridor activity areas were updated to provide points of interest to stimulate and engage residents. Fixed wall units were added with usable accessories and activity equipment, musical instruments and toys which are all safety regulation compliant.

The addition of the central ‘cafe-hub’ to the ground floor entrance provides a refreshing space for both residents and visitors to enjoy.

The materials and finishes were carefully considered for each area within the home, retaining the warm, luxurious feel of the Manor House signature style.
