Mayor and Mayoress of Harrogate Open Luxury £15m Care Home on the Duchy Estate
A new luxury care home in Harrogate was officially opened by the Mayor of Harrogate Councillor Bernard Bateman MBE and the Mayoress Mrs Linda Bateman, on Friday 7 December.
Andrew Jones MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough also attended the event.
The £15m Manor House, on Cornwall Road, provides five-star accommodation combined with specialist residential, dementia and respite care for elderly people. It has created 110 full and part-time jobs.
The development is the seventh luxury care home owned and operated by Hadrian Healthcare Group.
Speaking at the event Hadrian Healthcare’s chairman Ian Watson said: “The Manor House Harrogate is the perfect addition to our luxury portfolio. With each new development we aim to innovate to help our residents live life to the full. We do that through teamwork – from design through to construction, fitout and operation.
“Working closely with our architect, contractor and interior designer, creating The Manor House has been a great experience and a great journey. We now handover to our dedicated operations team, who are making this a wonderful home from home for residents.”
The Mayor of Harrogate, Councillor Bernard Bateman said: “I am pleased to see the continuing development of accommodation for our elderly people within the Harrogate district by Hadrian Healthcare Group. It is certainly something we need to be looking at carefully to ensure we have enough availability of 5-star residential homes for our older people.
“The Mayoress and myself have enjoyed our visit to the Manor House to see the quality development.”
Andrew Jones MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough said: "I've seen the building grow during its development and the home Hadrian Healthcare has created is very impressive. It is all about care and the creation of a community.
“I have no doubt that the focus of the people here is the enhancement of care, and that's the most important thing for me."
As well as a lifestyle co-ordinator, chauffeur and concierge service, facilities include a beauty salon, bowling green and wellness lodge with hydrotherapy pool. Meals are provided by an award-winning in-house executive chef, with waiter service in the dining area.
The Manor House is located on the site of an original late-Victorian building known as Waldernheath. It was originally a grand home, the first to be developed on Cornwall Road around 1890.
The site has been developed in a manner sensitive to its history and the architectural character of the Duchy Conservation Area. The impressive gothic façade of the original house has been retained and restored, and now forms a striking focal point for the new structure, which combines high quality traditional materials with expert craftsmanship.
The property is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and its interior is furnished to an impeccable standard throughout both the communal areas and the 87 private bedrooms and suites, which all have private bathrooms.Back to latest news
