Wetherby Manor Scoops Fourth Gold Yorkshire in Bloom Award

Wetherby Manor has won a fourth consecutive gold in the Yorkshire in Bloom awards, announced at the awards ceremony at York Racecourse on 11 September.

The awards judge visited Wetherby Manor in July to make her assessment and commented on the way the garden was designed with residents in mind to create “a brilliant therapeutic environment”, the extensive use of annual bedding providing wow factor, and the many visiting birds attracted by the bird tables.

Judith Scurr, manager of Wetherby Manor said: “We're so proud that we're able to maintain Yorkshire in Bloom gold. It’s fantastic recognition of the hard work of the gardening team throughout the year.

"As we opened just five years ago the garden is relatively young and still maturing. Residents take part in garden planning and we grow some of our own vegetables in raised beds as well as flowers for displays, with some of the residents enjoying being involved in planting in good weather.”

Next year's developments include moving and improving the herb garden, adding another raised bed and more activities with the local community.
