Oulton Manor Attends Reception at Leeds Civic Hall

Oulton Manor lifestyle coordinator Kim Eames and residents Eileen Rothera and Audrey Thackery attended a civic reception at Leeds Civic Hall on 18 August, celebrating the Tea Cosy Cafe in Rothwell and work to make Rothwell and Oulton a more dementia friendly community.

The event was hosted by The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Gerry Harper and The Lady Mayoress, Miss Lynne Scholes.  Guests were invited by Peter Smith BEM, the founder of the Tea Cosy Cafe and community dementia champion.

Following afternoon tea in the Ark Royal Room and the presentation of certificates guests were given a tour of the Civic Hall by The Lord Mayor and The Lady Mayoress.

Kim said: “We were absolutely delighted to be invited to the reception. Our residents with dementia are encouraged to live life to the full and enjoy activities and trips including the monthly Tea Cosy Cafe, which is great fun for everyone and a great source of support for the local community.”
