“The excellent care my father has received from all the staff he has encountered at The Manor House started even before he moved in. It has continued to be attentive, sensitive and comprehensive. In addition, the communications with me have been thorough, pragmatic and equally sensitive. The liaison with health care professionals to identify his needs has been excellent. He is delighted with his care and I am extremely happy to think of him in such a welcoming and warm environment.”

“My mother has lived in the Chester’s unit for almost 9 months, following a stroke. During this time, she has been extremely well cared for by the staff there, who are patient and kind at all times. They are welcoming to her visitors, offering tea/coffee and even wine. She is part of a choir that meets weekly, has been taken on a number of day trips to various places, as well as participated in crafts, exercise and singing performances.

The quality of the surroundings is superb, including her room, the public areas and the lovely gardens. The level of detail with which the whole home is managed is excellent and senior management is always available to discuss concerns, offering strategies to resolve any minor issues.

I have personally visited over 12 care homes in the area and this one is, by far, the best that I have seen. We are grateful for all the care our mother receives at The Manor House.”

“I can’t rate this care provision highly enough. The hardest decision I ever had to make was finding my father's forever home that would live up to my standards of looking after him, as I would. They go over and above in every way. Every single member of staff I have had the pleasure of coming across is so friendly, respectful and professional. They are always encouraging their residents to get involved and stimulate them, even more so when doors are closed to visitors. The staff are bursting with bright-coloured personalities and I genuinely see that they enjoy their job and love the residents like they are their own family. I have no worries or concerns here and only hope if ever my time came to be in full-time care, my family pick here for me. Residents are treated like royalty. Thank you to every one of you for your commitment and support to the residents - you are superstars.”

“All of the staff are exceptional, being welcoming, caring, attentive, patient, and respectful to residents and visitors. The food is varied, fresh and looks and smells fabulous. To stimulate residents, activities are organised daily and include arts and crafts, exercise, live music, guest speakers and mini-bus outings. Participation is encouraged but is optional, if residents choose not to participate, their decision is accepted and respected, as it should be.The home and grounds are immaculate and whilst the quality of care has to be the primary focus when placing a relative, the environment forms part of that care. It has to be clean, bright, comfortable, stimulating and safe. My view is that if staff take the time to ensure that the environment is well looked after, they will take the time to ensure that the residents are well looked after and that is definitely what I have seen in Manor House Care Home. If I was looking for a home for myself, it would be The Manor House.”

“My mum has Alzheimer's and has lived in The Manor House Care Home since January 2018. From the moment mum moved into Manor House the care has been exceptional. It was a traumatic time for mum, and she was adamant she wanted to stay at home (which wasn't safe to do) however as soon as mum arrived at Manor House, the warm welcome she was given practically instantly changed her mind, and put her at ease. This level of skill, intuition and love has continued and mum is happy and contented at The Manor House.”

“I looked around many care homes until I found The Manor House Whickham. The care is exceptional. Our mother has Alzheimer's but is clearly very happy here. Her health has improved greatly since entering the home. We are able to call anytime and the staff are always welcoming. Mum is always well presented and the home smells clean and fresh, unlike others I have looked around. She loves the staff, the food and the entertainment.”

“An excellent care home that cares for all residents wellbeing and needs with love care and respect. All the staff are friendly, professional and willing to go the extra mile to make residents happy. The activities offered are excellent and the cleanliness and facilities are outstanding. My mum is very happy living there.”

“My aunt has been a resident for 20 months. She became ill at the age of 99 and now suffers from severe short-term memory loss, making independent living no longer possible. As her attorney, I accepted a place at The Manor House and feel extremely fortunate that this was possible at a time made even more difficult by the Covid crisis. The building and grounds are immaculate, but it is the level of care which makes The Manor House outstanding. The senior staff are accessible and reassuringly professional and I have huge respect for all the carers who are looking after my aunt with sympathy, good humour and patience. She doesn't understand or accept her loss of independence so all these qualities are tested regularly. I would not hesitate to recommend The Manor House to anyone looking for a Residential Home.”

“The staff are so friendly, hardworking and demonstrate affection, support and kindness at all times. Covid 19 has been an incredibly tough time for Care Homes. We were given regular updates during the lockdown as to the ongoing situation. It was extremely hard not to be able to visit him in the initial few weeks, but it was so reassuring that we had the opportunity to have regular video calls. Not only has it lifted his spirits, but it has also lifted mine. I cannot thank the staff enough for caring for everyone's precious loved ones, not only at this difficult time but on a daily basis, week in week out every year. Most importantly, Dad seems to be very content and has placed his trust in the staff who treat the residents like a big family.”

“Manor House staff have been excellent during the Coronavirus outbreak. It has been very hard not being able to visit during lockdown, but I know Mam is safe and being looked after. They have continued to keep me updated and have regularly sent photographs of her doing the activities they provide.”

“Wonderful care for my mother at this nursing home, especially during the pandemic.”

“During the recent lockdown, the staff have had weekly contact set up via video calls so that we can see our Mum, talk to her and ask nursing staff any relevant questions. We have also been kept well informed on updates and Government regulations through regular emailed letters from The Care Home Manager.”

“This is an excellent care home and really at this exceptionally worrying time, we could not have wished for our mother to be anywhere else. The fixtures, fittings and food are nice but it is the people here who really care. The FaceTime with Mum at a time when we have not been able to visit because of COVID, where some of us work (NHS) and because others of us are shielding has been wonderful. I am really full of praise for this team of carers who really are the best. I do not know what more they could have done during a pandemic. That’s what you want for our Mum at such a time.”

“The Manor House is excellent. All the staff are so kind and helpful and the facilities are super. My mother has been a resident for the past four months and everyone welcomed her so warmly. The care she receives is excellent and anything she needs is provided. Obviously everyone has been working under difficulties through the pandemic, but the staff have been cheerful and caring and careful throughout and The Manor House has avoided any Covid-19. I really can't thank everyone enough. We are so pleased we found The Manor House for my mother.”

“My mother has been a resident at The Manor House for 9 years and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The manager had the sense to close the Manor House to visitors 2 weeks before it became compulsory and thus protected the residents from COVID-19. The staff have gone to extraordinary lengths to keep the virus at bay. I have been able to talk to mum via Skype and I can arrange a phone call whenever I want one. ...... I can tell by mum's face (she is 101yrs and has vascular dementia) that she is perfectly content. Thank you to all the staff for looking after mum so well throughout this torrid time.”

“The staff have been fantastic throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, working tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.”

“This care home is completely brilliant. Through the whole COVID crisis the team here have been amazing. So professional, so scrupulous with their standards and above all really kind and considerate to their residents. Obviously these have been worrying times but I have never once feared for my 89-year-old mum. I knew she was in the best place and that the team at The Manor would do their utmost to keep her safe. “
